Agenda Amendments: 2 New Members to Vote In - Officially welcome Joe Mader, Kate Rhoden, Julie Sigety, Lisa Stretenovic, and Chase Insogna to the Committee - Members to vote in Karina Parlato and Ben Boggess- gave their reasons to why they want to be apart of the committee. All in Favor to approve/No oppositions. -Awards for Significant Amount of Time in the Accounting Department Kristy McDermott 15 years and Denise White 20 years -Approval of Minutes from 04/24/2024. Accounting Assessment Results Update

Fin Acnt and Managerial Accounting ( 2 Transfer Courses), Standard Assessment. The same assessments are taken and data is collected. - These assessments are set to match the learning objectives, any student should pass the assessment, if they mastered the learning objectives. - Last School Year, New Results Spring and Summer 2024 Target Goal 80% receive 70% or better, 2301: for Spring 87% passed for Assessment 1, 87% passed on Assessment 2, Summer 81% Assessment 1 and 89% Assessment 2. -Chase Insogna- Difference b/w Assessments: 1st Assessment is the Midterm covers first part and 2nd covers the 2nd half of the course, 2302: Hard to meet goals for Managerial Accounting: Worked really hard to get higher: Spring 2024: 90% Assessment 1 and 78% for Assessment 2( didn't meet good) Summer 2024( Met goal for both Assessments) - See where students are having a hard time 1 question on Assessment 1 and 2 questions for Assessment 2. ( Variant Analysis, Special Order, Non manufacturing and Manufacturing) - Adding Homework problems: - Differences on what are on both exams discussed.

VOTE: Accounting Technician Curriculum Proposed Changes

-Curriculum changes to address the pipeline. -Accounting Technician Programs and finding ways to improve and explore Accounting as a possibility. Finding additional pathways to keep them involved in Accounting: - Aligning: New Leadership and New Strategies, now performance based funded, funded by completion not enrollment. - A lot of work with Articulation with high school and other colleges and universities. - Process of Approval- met and presented with initial drafts, discussed at the Task Force Meeting, getting all curriculum information submitted by December 2nd. - Changed kind of the way courses are presented. - Guided Pathway students starts at the OSA and then move to Level 1 Technician and then all the way up to Associate of Applied Science Degree. Lining up with what the high schools do. Not making changes that will conflict what is being set up. - They will be prepared to jump into the Apprenticeship Program - Need everything to match up to the macro to the micro ( Business Studies and the Accounting Dept needs to reflect the Business study vision and mission statement. Program Level or Outcomes are lining up as well as course level objectives and course descriptions. - New Program Maps- Changes 3 courses changing credit hours, advising differently and prepare students. - Intro to Acntg 1 and 2 and 1426 just a managerial acntg class. Scaled. 8 week Asynchronous Online Format. - Focus on Small Business ( Sole Proprietor Approach) Acnt 1313- Quickbooks, Excel, Data analysis- aligning better as a full excel class. things that are being taken out are being moved to Acnt 2371. - Course Desc Revision to focus on business startups. Funding a small business, loans, create a business plan, how to operate business. -New Course Career Dev in Accounting Technician- Doing more with resume building linked in. Students are younger and less preparedness. -Study skills- probably a little bit., bridging the gap for students. -13XX- becoming a 3 hour credit course - Building a foundation. integrate the apprenticeship model into the curriculum for the Technician Program. -Younger people- office professionalism, remote and in office experience. Is there enough in the 3 hours for the soft skills. Building in A.C, projects will be completed. What as a student are they learning? 1st semester course- Student Success, optional. Focused on Accounting Bookkeeping. Trying to avoid overload, but put the appropriate content in the course. -Make sure students have the professional and networking skills . -Making students aware of everything that comes with accounting - Course Names- Red credit hours, adding to Tech Course, updating course objectives. -XX&YY Special need courses, Acnt 1303, Acnt 1325- Specific Details of the courses ( QR Code) -Separate Votes New Course and Program Revision - Motion to approve 1. Tracie Miller- Nobles Motion approve dev of a new course Career Development in Acntng Tech approve changes to the Technician Program changing 3 courses to 3 credit hours 2nd Kate Rhoden - Chase Insogna- Change Title Careers in Accounting, Does it cover the professionalism, Career Advancement, Career Success in Accounting, amendment to modify the name. (All in Favor) No oppositions. 2nd to approve Julie Sigety -Entrepreneurial: still the same as the Acnt Technician Program, same set of courses that are being changed for both. 2371- not apart of the OSA or level 1 Certificate. only applies to students that are getting their Associate of Applied Science. Proposed Version Vote: 1331 or 1347 having a hard time. Attention only taking the CPA exam and not going into taxes at all for Acnt 1374, lab is taken out. Prepare all students to pass 1/4 of the CPA exam for Acnt 1374. - Approval of Entrepreneurial Bookkeeping Tax Series, Intro to Acntng 1 and 2 be reduced to 3 cred hrs, approve new Accounting Course to be added as presented by staff. 1.Tracie Miller Nobles, 2. Feedback VOTE: Upcoming ACBSP Accreditation

Reaccreditation- Alignment of Business Studies, Mission Values and Business Studies. - Proposed as the Mission Statement for Business Studies. Feedback- Kate Rhoden (Us) School's Organization Separate Combined Business Studies as a Division culinary combined under business studies for management purposes , Johnny Howard worded differently such as content business , culinary, hospitality industries... Tracie Miller Nobles- Procedural Question- Approved by all the Advisory Committee, soliciting feedback. - Requires input from A.C on changes that were made will need to be included in the ACBSP report. all students, faculty, A.C must review if any issues or comments. - Exposure Draft open for comment: One suggestion made under Hospitality, vote that this was discussed and reviewed by the Advisory Committee 2026, look at minutes. Accounting will be coming up with their own. -Approve suggestions and input- - Issues- doesn't include Business Studies as a Whole- Karina Parlato -Denise White: The business studies division which includes... culinary, hospitality mission is to Organization in front Johnny Howard- Mission is to be student focused and not organization focused. -Tracie Miller Nobles- Vision Focuses on Business Leaders, Mission culinary and hospitality, Johnny- Remove Business and keep Future Leaders. -Value Statement: Tracie Miller Nobles- stricken. D.E.I. Risk exposure to leave it in. -Kate Rhoden- a lot of bullets, lessen to 3 or 4, certain things that are still core. A lot to remember. - Denise White- Comparing to Chancellor's Values Courage, Joy, Compassion, Yes Johnny H.- Acronym , cultivate some into the other, have the spirit of the DEI Narrowed down to 4 Tracie Miller, valued and respected to the other. -Darryl H- Innovative and Lifelong Combined Two learning aspects. Shorten the list -Kate Rhoden- Global Perspective and Local Engagement Combined - Tracie- One word, Student centered, learning, global, community 4 words, describe what the 4 words mean. - Ethical, leadership. Doesn't want to attend if that is not a value. - Julie Sigety - other business areas don't emphasize as much - Email more feedback to Larry Stephens - Kate Rhoden- Think about Innovative, - Darryl- innovative is a good word for some of the descriptions. - Report written up by end of December 2025. -Visit in January/Feb 2026. Get as much input.

Preview of VITA Site for Spring 2025

Working with Foundation Communities. Train Students and Volunteers to prepare taxes for low income families. - Over 400 Tax Returns were done last year. -Funds are coming from Work Study. - Accelerator Building 1000 in Highland Campus -Hiring 7 students, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, students, or any staff. -Hoping to get enough faculty involvement, have a faculty mentor for each shift -Getting the Accounting Dept involved. Acntng Major or Business Admin. Hoping that Business Admin will consider Accounting. - Community and Cultivation for ACC at large, help lower income families get as much refund as they can. -February 2nd. -Students will have practice in January. - You do not have to have tax experience to volunteer and also you can get 14 or 18 hours of CPE.

a. Board approved Acnt 1374, Spring 2025 Semester, course is almost full. Tax Courses are pretty full. - Registration for B.S Division up 30% , Accounting Enrollment: 29% 60 of the students in the Accounting Program apart of the Free Tuition Program. -Adding more sections - Hard to get students back on campuses- 15 or 20% of students. b. Board Meeting in Nov 5 community colleges offer Professional Internships for CPA Students - Hours count toward 150, but not upper division accounting courses. Internship will help them get to their 150 hours. c. Mock CPA exam event November 13th - 8 students registered, 5 students showed up. abbreviated Mock CPA Exam- 2hours instead of the 4 hours -Surgent offers their product to students to purchase as a sales pitch. ( Try it and see what it's like) d. Meet the Firms Event last weekend -Good Student Turnout e. New Full -Time Faculty -Darryl Houston ( Welcome)
