Hello to the Advisory Board, 

I hope everyone had a good summer and are looking forward to fall and the various upcoming holidays. 

We have begun the fall semester at ACC.  The Hospitality Department registration is finally back to pre-Covid numbers and the classes have a full complement of students.  I would like to ask your blessing on a couple of adjustments to our Hospitality Management and Meeting  Event Planning program class offerings.    

We are removing our Sustainable Tourism class, TRVM 2372 from the curriculum.  This is a remaining class from the Travel & Tourism program that was sunsetted three years ago.  The class was required to remain for three years and can now be removed.  It was a good class for those wanting to plan travel when we had that program, but isn't as appropriate to the Hotel and Restaurant Management and Meeting & Event Planning students that we have now. 

We are removing our Exposition and Trade Show class, TRVM 2355.  This was an elective class at one time, and we have not taught this class for several years. The content was integrated into the TRVM 2301 Conventions and Meetings class.  It can now come off the listing of classes to reduce confusion. 

Last year we created a new class called Technical Production for Events - TRVM 1391, which the committee formally approved.  It is running this semester and is taught by Stacey Hoyt, and the students are very excited to take the initial course.  It needs to move from an elective slot to a required slot in the program.  It was designed this way, but as you may have noticed, moving these classes on and off the program takes many steps.  This will complete the process. 

Beverage Management - RSTO 1301 is being listed as a restrictive elective choice for the Hotel and Restaurant students.  It will replace Dining Room Services, which will still be offered, but as a more general (not restrictive) elective.  We are moving the Beverage Management class to a restrictive elective with two options - either Beverage Management or Guest Room Services. This gives the hotel students a choice between an F&B emphasis or an Operations emphasis.  

If you have any questions on these program adjustments, I am happy to talk through them.  I would appreciate your approval for the changes.
