New Website
Presenter
Patty Scogin
Minutes
Patty presented Public Information and College Marketing’s new website with links that are easier to follow with helpful hints. Please visit at www.austincc.edu/marketing.
For example, there is a new way of ordering custom merchandise – please go to PICM’s website, pick a vendor, look at the catalog, fill out the order form, and follow steps. All orders need to go through this process. There is help for building web pages, creating publications, events, Riverbat appearances, open records, etc.
There is a repository where we are building Templates that the department can access quickly (images, photos, flyers, presentations, other documents). She also informed about our style guide that tells how to use logos, stationary, document wording, etc. Consistency in what we say, how we say it, and how we look defines how the public views us. The style guide can be found at http://www.austincc.edu/marketing/style-guide.php.
A brag page will be added in which we will have a chance to showcase the projects marketing is working on like the commercials produced. There will soon be eight commercials for all to review, six English and four in Spanish.

This project is going pretty slowly. We will be working with Student Services, Student Life, and others to broadcast deadlines and other time-lined information out and displayed. We have around six companies that will be bidding under RFP for these services, and Hays and Elgin campuses are now also included on this project. We will probably start with QEP announcements and then with spring registration deadlines. We already do this for messages that go for channel 19 so it would not be

Thoughts/Questions

Brette – Asked the group to think of three things they would like to use MOC for this coming year. How MOC could be changed to make it better, and bring to bring ideas or send them to Brette before next meeting in October.
Patty Salazar – Thursday September 13 they will have the brand new view books. This is a great tool, and all the recruiters loved it.
Kathleen – They are considering expanding the view book to include Adult Education students. She thinks they should start looking at the demographics of who the college is presenting to, as they have not differentiated it at this point. Adult Education should be able to share what they use for their students to be adapted to their own view book.
Lori – 350 to400 students attended the Riverbat bash. It was a great event with attendance by a different group of people which included many families with small children.
Kathleen - would like to have a discussion about student communication for next meeting. For example there is no incentive for students to declare a major. We think that it is a matter of getting a list of majors and to contact the students with instructions of where to go if they want to change major. Linda said it is very cumbersome, and requires the help of IT.
Brette – She will bring TV Commercials next time
Loretta - Black Students Reception will be held on September 20 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at EVC.
