The Continuing Education (CE) course schedule was viewed on-line. The first three agricultural program course offerings appear on the schedule. ACC continues to work on integrating credit and non-credit on-line schedules for easier access.

Advisory members toured the proposed sites at the Elgin Campus on May 8th. The importance of soil testing was noted.

The windmill donor has concerns with the condition of the windmill and liability issues and may not donate after all. If the group likes the idea of a windmill, efforts will be made to find another one. A suggestion was made to purchase the windmill from the donor.
Availability of water to the initial site will not occur before the start of the semester.
ACC Facilities Department is recommending use of land closer to the campus building for easier access to water. The use of a water tank was suggested.
ACC Administration has made a recommendation to the Bond Committee for a smaller building that would directly support the Ag and Vet Tech programs. The placement of that building will determine the future location of the farm.
The advisory group expressed the need for the program’s long term plan, the importance of integrating renewable energy aspects with the sustainable agriculture curriculum, and the need of the program’s long time vision and goals. It was suggested that a few members get together to draft a vision/mission statement and goals to present to the group.
ACC Facilities Director, Bill Mullane, will be invited to the next meeting (June 26) to present the long-term plan for the site and answer the members’ questions on long term plans for the program.

ACC will hold an open house for the Elgin Campus on Saturday, June 1. CE will be in attendance with information on the program and on-site registration.

Promotional “Ag Card”:

ACC’s Marketing department created a promotional card outlining the program. The card lists the name of the program as Sustainable Agriculture. The Advisory Committee likes the addition of Sustainable, but requests that the program name retain Entrepreneurship as well. Mike Midgley will contact the Marketing Department and ask them to correct the program’s name: Sustainable Agricultural Entrepreneurship.
