Members introduced themselves and their membership role with committee. Ms, Cornett distriibuted handouts: a backgound document on the implementation of program advisory committees from the perspective of the TX Higher Ed Coordinating Bd and the American Dental Assn. Commission on Dental Accreditation (ADA CODA). The administrative document specific to the Advisory Committe to the Dental Hygiene Program was sent to the new members electronically ahead of the meeting.

- Program outcomes: The Dept.chair shared documents to demonstrate program outcomes.
- Results of changes in the Admissions Ranking Score: Ms. Cornett discussed the changes in the calculation of the admission ranking score regarding eliminating the pharmacology bonus points and the addition of a ''patient care experience'' bonus. 6 out of the 17 current students received bonus points for patient care experience; 2 of which are foreign trained dentist.
- Planned Technology Purchases: Ms Cornett discussed the technology approved expenditures and the turn away from incorporating the con-beam x-ray technology. A survey of graduates will be used to further define the imaging tecnologies to enhance.

The Department Chair with the asistance of the Dean explained the legislation passed at this last legislative session and that rules have yet to be implemented by the TX Higher Ed Coordinating Bd. The legislature capped associate degree programs at 60 semester hours.
At the recent meeting of the TX Dental Hygiene Directors' Association, a position statement was affirmed that reducing hours would create a patient safety issue as well as challenge the addition of local anesthesia procedures once approved at the state level.
Ms. Cornett also spoke to the challenges of reflecting the change in the DH degree plan of the CHEM 1305 + 1105 required prerequisite of college level algebra which requires the addition of the 3 semester hours.

Ms. Mary Jacks spoke of the changes and challenges associated with moving the U of T Health Science Center at San Antoio Dental Hygiene Dept. from the School of Health Professions to the management of the Dental School, Dept. of Periodontics; and of the loss of two key leaders.
Mr. Genny Flores announced the move of the Manos de Cristo dental clinic to its new site, November 8, and with an expected November 20 open house. The new address will be 4911 Harmon Ave, Austin, 78751, near Dell Children's Hospital.
Dr. David Yu communicated that he has an article in the current month's Dimensions of Dental Hygiene Journal and that he will be presenting on lasers and dental hygiene services at the May TDA annual session.
Dr. Ensy Atarod described the St. David's Foundation focus on Title 1 schools and the addition of a new regional team and the purchase of 2 new vans and replacement of a 3rd. Restructuring for the teams is in progress.
Ms. Shauntel Flores expressed her appreciation to the Program for her preparation to enter patient care.
Ms. Sara Hernandez announced that Capital IDEA received a grant to work with teenagers in terms of preparing them for success in the workforce.
Ms. Cornett announced the retirement of Dean Klein at the end of the semester/year.
