a. Accreditation Update - Applications for accreditation have been submitted to the AVMA. Later this year we will submit a Program Self- Study so that they have it to review before the actual site visit. The AVMA-CVTEA evaluation is scheduled for February 3-5, 2016.
b. Update on Clinical Site needs for entire program – facilities for clinical instruction
• Affiliation agreements with Emancipet and Pflugerville Animal Control, for our Anesthesia and Surgical Assisting Class.
• Completed an Affiliation Agreement with UT for our Lab Animal Class
• Our Radiology Class we have made contact with all of our sites. We have agreements with the sites we need to find out if we need another agreement for Radiology
• Right now we will be using the Radiology facilities at the Eastview Campus to teach the basics of Radiology then we will use the Emergency Animal Hospital of North West Austin.
• Large Animals is still somewhat loose haven’t worked out the specifics of animal resources yet. A meeting with the Elgin High School Agriculture Teacher (Becky Maass) is scheduled on the 14th of April. Right now we plan on using her equipment and animals for much of our bovine work.
• We have been talking to Elgin Veterinary Hospital and Austin Equine Hospital and they are open to helping us, with equine work. However, the facilities are small that they cannot accommodate all ten students’ at the same time. So we will be splitting the class between the two sites.
• Clinicals and Practicum seem to be in good shape at this point. Sara has been contacting the hospitals in the area. Right now we have plenty of sites for the summer clinical. Students are presently in the process of arranging their summer clinical site.

a. Update on exemption from the 60 hour credit rule – SB 497
• The program requested an exemption from this rule. Our exemption was denied. Therefore, we will have to go with a 60 hour degree plan. Our Provost wants us to include a Student Success class in our curriculum. A student coming in with less than twelve semester hours will have to take the course. When the student declares the major of General Studies in Science they will have to take the course as part of that degree plan, before they are admitted officially into the program.
• Speech was part of every degree plan. The Provost indicates that it does not have to be in every degree plan. Student must be competent in oral communication, as part of the general education classes. So the speech requirement will be dropped. Speech hours will be replaced with a BIOL 1406, an advantage of this class includes some chemistry and a lab component.
• One semester hour from office management and the three hours from speech were used to add BIOL 1406 to the degree plan. Robyn Hoge motioned to approve the changes to the degree plan. Elizabeth Warren seconded the motion, vote was taken and the degree plan was approved.
b. Update on future veterinary technology building.
• Two of the three bond elections passed this last Fall, which will allow for a new building housing the veterinary technology program and sustainable agriculture. It is Anticipated to have the building ready sometime in 2017. Staff are visiting other Veterinary Tech programs throughout the state to look at their facilities. The college is starting the process of looking for architect.
c. Updated degree plan.
• This was already discussed.
d. Update on current cohorts.
• We have ten students in this class. We are in our second semester.
• Student are progressing thru the curriculum. They are going out to Bastrop Animal Control about once a week. They are becoming more proficient at venipuncture and restraint.
