David introduced course changes resulting from recent changes to the Academic Course Guide Manual and a revision of the Music AA to add a success course and incorporate course changes. New Course MUSI 2117 Sight-Singing and Ear Training IV (1-1-2) – replaces ACGM expired MUSI 2118 Modify Course MUSI 2312 Music Theory IV (3-3-0) - updating corequisite from MUSI 2118 to MUSI 2117. Expire Course MUSI 2118 Sight-Singing and Ear Training IV (1-1-2) – expire 216U000 Revise Award Music AA – adding success course, replacing MUSI 2118 with MUSI 2117 James Friedrichsen moved to accept proposed course changes, addition, and expiration, and to approve the revised Music AA; second by Clark Peterson. Joey introduced revised AAS to include the POFT 1171 success course, and update plan with CNBT 2344. The Construction Manager Certificate was revised to add CNBT 2344, CNBT 2317, and to expire CNBT 2444. Course expiration of CNBT 2444 was proposed. Bill proposed revision of 4 AAS awards to include the EDUC 1300 success course. The Visual Mixed Media AAS added the EDUC 1300 success course and replaced PHTC 1313 with COMM 1335. A modification to PHTC 1345 to define corequisites PHTC 2341 as previous or concurrent was discussed. Michelle proposed addition of EDUC 1300 success course to the Culinary Arts AAS and to the Baking and Pastry AAS. Oral Communication requirement was placed in semester I, ENGL 1301 was moved to semester 3 in both awards. Gaye Lynn discussed GIS AAS revision to include EDUC 1300 with course options COSC 1315, DFTG 1405, SRVY 1301; to remove GEOG 1301 from semester 1 and place in semester 2. The GIS Level II Certificate added EDUC 1300 as a semester 1 course option. Gaye Lynn discussed NEW Interdisciplinary AA plans presented to comply with a recent THECB directive. The two plans will be implemented in fall 2016 pending requests to add identified courses to the 2016-17 Core list area approved. A third plan, Peace and Conflict Studies Interdisciplinary award will be presented in a future meeting. By February 2016, the College must certify to THECB that ACC is implementing interdisciplinary awards. These awards must be approved by ACC Board of Trustees prior to being submitted to THECB. Add Awards Mexican-American/Chicano Studies AA American Studies AA Jorge Lynch moved to accept the interdisciplinary plans in Mexican-American/Chicano Studies AA and the American Studies AA; second by Linda Smarzik. Approved. Joann Kroll requested Gaye Lynn provided her with documentation for submittal to SACSCOC by March 1, 2016.

Mary discussed updates to the elective courses listed in Computer Information Technology AAS and C++ Track Certificate plans. This proposal was previously approved on 10-16-15; however Committee requested this be returned with corrections. Mary asked that a listing of the courses be discontinued in the printed footnotes as student could access the approved course lists from the links in the online plans. The User and Computer Support Specialization AAS identified specific courses in the Business Elective. Laura returned to Committee from the 9/18/15 meeting with additional information on the Developmental Writing Base NCBW courses. They are made available to students in developmental courses who need additional remediation. Students do not pay for these courses. Department staff registers students into the sections. These courses will not be published. Jack and David discussed advisory committee recommended changes to the Biotechnology AAS plan to remove footnote ‘May substitution BIOL 1408’ from the BIOL 1406 course in semester 1, and to add alternative course options BITC 1471 or BITC 2486 to semester 4 BITC 2487. Biotechnology Level One Certificate revisions were also discussed. Revise Awards Biotechnology AAS Biotechnology Level I Certificate (return from 10-16-15 agenda) – not approved James Friedrichsen moved to accept changes to the Biotechnology AAS; second by Clark Peterson. Approved. Biotechnology Level One Certificate revision will be returned to the January 22, 2016 meeting with additional edits.

Membership. The committee members took up the question of employee association appointments in light of the detailed and rigorous work of the committee. The members unanimously approved a resolution with two parts. First, C&P requests that Faculty Senate appointments be for staggered, two-year terms, with implementation this year. (That is, half of the Faculty Senate appointees this year would have a one-year appointment and half a two-year appointment). Second, C&P requests that the other employee associations examine the efficacy of two-year appointments to Curriculum & Programs. The exception would be the SGA representative, whom we believe should continue to be on a one-year rotation. Minutes - October 16, 2015 - Approved
