Gaye Lynn and Shirin introduced new interdisciplinary awards which are being developed to comply with a Texas state mandate. Shirin recognized members of the interdisciplinary subcommittee for their contributions. Add NEW Awards – Texas state mandate Associate of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies: Peace and Conflict Studies Associate of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies: Human Ecology Matthew Daude moved to return the Human Ecology AA award plan to a future meeting; second by Michelle Fitzpatrick. Approved. Gaye Lynn will bring the award to the next meeting of Curriculum and Programs Committee on February 19, 2016. Carrier King moved to accept the Peace and Conflict Studies AA award; second by Regina Swearingen. Approved.

Curriculum and Programs Committee Handbook (December 2015) Joe Lostracco discuss Dr. Charles Cook's request that the Curriculum and Programs Committee Handbook be revised to include Continuing Education in the committee's processes and procedures. Joe recognized Joann Kroll and Dianne Olla for assistance with this project. Committee discussed having a role in the revision as members of a shared-governance group. The committee identified additional topics for consideration in the revised manual. A revision subcommittee chaired by Clark Peterson was established. Regina Swearingen, Jorge Lynch, Michelle Fitzpatrick, and Joe Lostracco will join Clark in the review. Topics for consideration included: (1) Adding Curriculum and Programs Committee responsibility for CORE courses. (2) Proxy voting. (3) Study Abroad links. What is responsibility of Curriculum and Programs Committee for Study Abroad courses? (4) Broad language within the manual. A second subcommittee under the leadership of Matthew Daude was established to look at the committee's charge and scope. Ron Johns and Reed Peoples agreed to serve on this subcommittee. Others are invited to join in. (5) Admin Rule 4.1. If changes are mandated by the state, why must advisory minutes be part of proposals to committee. Perhaps having a consent agenda is the solution. Proposed adding consent agenda language to the manual. (6) Expiring Awards. Where is information required for teach-out plans, lists of students. See INSS.004 form. (7) Distance Learning.
